Diversity
Turtles are still common throughout the world. The blue indicates sea turtles. The black indicates land turtles. The grey means turtles can't live there at all. (And don't try making turtles live there!) As you can see, turtles are all over Africa. They are also common in the Americas. There are about 70 species of turtles all over the world.

As mentioned in the introduction, most turtles are endangered still because of humans and predators. Many though, fortunately, are common because people really like them, although the pet trade is not very healthy for them. Turtles don't think much of roads.
Fortunately, turtles still exist and can be found in a wide range of areas. Just be sure you treat them well! (See "Turtle care.")
